Ladies Day
13th to 17th February 2018 - Tilbury Hall
Ladies’ Day was written for the Hull Truck Company in 2006 and performed at the Theatre Royal, York. It was also performed at the Edinburgh Fringe this year.
Four fantastic female character roles, and some diverse male characters.
‘Exuberantly up to the minute comedy’ Guardian
This is an ‘Highly entertaining play ‘ (British Theatre Guide) By Amanda Whittington. Her plays including ‘Be My Baby’ and ‘Kiss Me Quickstep’
Set in a fish factory where the chatter never stops and at glamorous Royal Ascot when it temporarily relocated to York in 2005.
The play is about four unlikely lasses who decide to take a day trip to the races. The play with its fast exchanges and tender moments focuses on the friendship between the four distinctly different women, all of whom have perfectly crafted exciting roles with tremendous acting opportunities.
Work, love and life are just one long, hard slog for the fish-filleting foursome Pearl, Jan, Shelley and Linda. The idea to go to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot seems a good one, until they find out the cost of the tickets! But their fortunes are set to change. Out go the hairnets and overalls as they do themselves up to the nines and head off to the races.
We are very pleased to announce the main parts as follows:
Colin Ricardo - Joe and Fred
Roger Huggins - Kevin and Barry and Jim
Roman Crowther - Patrick
Ashlea Wales - Linda
Sharon Lottari -Shelley
Catherine Little -Jan
Claire Fisher - Pearl
